United Way of Ogle County, an affiliate of the United Way of Rock River Valley, is announcing a grant seekers meeting for the upcoming funding cycle. This meeting is open to non-profit organizations that provide services to clients in Ogle County. Organizations will learn how to submit funding for United Way's next funding cycle beginning July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020 as well as the type of programs and services typically funded.

United Way is proud to sponsor for over 5 years the Rockford Patriot's Boxing Club! This gym is in the heart of Midtown District (one of United Way's priority neighborhoods). United Way believes that access to healthy programming in any neighborhood is key to building a Strong Neighborhood. Rockford Patriot's Boxing Club, a program of Patriot's Gateway Community Center, is mostly noted for the participation of Angel Martinez, an Olympic hopeful and 2017 USA Boxing Youth Male Boxer of the Year. And though Angel is all the talk, this weekend the attention is brought back to core of this wonderful program for area youth.

Labor Day is a tribute to the contributions that workers have made to the strength, prosperity and well being of our country. To celebrate the day, Rockford United Labor will host the 66th Annual Labor Day Parade on Monday, September 3, 2018 in downtown Rockford. The parade will start at 10:00 a.m. The Parade begins at 6th Avenue and 7th Street, winds its way through Midtown District, and ends at Davis Park. This year's Grand Marshall is International Association of Fire Fighters Local 413 President, Christopher Scrol and the theme is "Organized Labor Promotes Strong Communities."
