Celebrate generosity worldwide by joining us for #GivingTuesday on December 3, 2019. It's a day for ordinary people to come together to do extraordinary things in our region. Your action on #GivingTuesday will empower middle school students in our community, and help us ensure they remain on track to graduate — creating a brighter future for the Rock River Valley.

The generous spirit of our community is already obvious before Giving Tuesday is even here — an anonymous Rockford donor has vowed to match up to $5,000 of the money donated to United Way of Rock River Valley on Giving Tuesday. So help us raise $10,000 for our community!

About Move the Middle Now

The future well-being of our community rests squarely on the shoulders of our middle school students. It's a fact: unless our middle schoolers are prepared for college and/or have the skills for the 21st century workforce, we won't have the resources we need to compete, and thrive, as a community. The long-term effects of not graduating from high school are significant: high school dropouts are three times more likely to live in poverty, and six times more likely to be arrested. Studies show that the process of dropping out of high school actually begins in middle school. Early intervention is critical, that's why United Way of Rock River Valley is targeting our region's middle school students, offering programming and partnerships to help influence outcomes that, for so many years, and for thousands of students, have been a foregone conclusion.
