Parenth.o.o.d Promise (PHP), works with families to ensure that their children will graduate from high school. Parenth.o.o.d Promise has four components:

1. Parent Empowerment
2. Tutoring and Mentoring
3. Individualized Goal Planning and Community and Supportive Services
4. Cultural Enrichments.

Parenthood Promise staff assist parents in the creation of their own customized plan, which fit individual family's goal.

Client Name: Ashleigh Townsend

Ms. Townsend has made many accomplishments while participating in the Parenth.o.o.d Promise Program. Ms. Townsend defined her goals as listed:

1. Ms. Townsend wants to obtain improved housing for children's living environment.
2. She would like her children to develop social skills in new school setting
3. She would like for children to improve in academics.
4. She would like to improve children's behavior concerns by building on their socio-emotional skill.

Ms. Townsend is a young mother of four children, all under the age of 7. She has demonstrated wherewithal, determination, and the ability to persevere. While attempting to obtain improved housing, Ms. Townsend experienced many barriers in her path. Navigating systems can be a very overwhelming process. Despite her frustration, she continued to work along with PHP workers to reach her family's goal. She has achieved this goal by moving into an improved housing suitable for all her children's needs. Ms. Townsend created her family plan in August of 2016, reaching her goal of improved housing in February 2017, a 6 month time frame.

Ms. Townsend also created individual goals for her children. She expressed concerns about her children's behavior. Her 7 year old daughter, specifically, demonstrated both low academic achievement, and behavioral issues. This mother has taken initiative by reaching out to the school for support, for her daughter to receive an Individual Educational Plan, (IEP) which within itself, is an arduous process. In addition to obtaining support, for her daughter's academic needs, mother works with all children in the home. PHP workers meet with students once a week to provide tutoring and socio-emotional skill building. Recently, teachers have reported of positive change in both behavioral and academic from the beginning of school.
The mother takes advantage of all extracurricular opportunities for students. The school age children are involved in Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, basketball, and cheerleading. All activities promote positive growth for the children's social skills.

This mother is maintaining her household with a limited income. She recognizes the needs of her family, and accepts informational resources that may better her family. She has attended every Parenth.o.o.d Promise parent empowerment workshop. She continues to strive, ensuring her children are receiving all support they need in order to become productive citizens. She has the qualities that interchange into success. Parenthood Promise helps families, such as Ms. Townsend by providing support in all domains as well as bringing their qualities to light.
