Nicor Gas investment in United Way demonstrates total commitment to community impact

Nicor Gas Check

(Rockford, Ill. - 12/03/2015) – Representatives of Nicor Gas, an AGL Resources Company, presented a corporate check in the amount of $21,600 to United Way of Rock River Valley's community impact fund, which supports investments in strategies and programs that strengthen the education, income and health of our area. This investment in community impact continues the company's long tradition of support for United Way's across Northern Illinois, which began in 1954.

"The generous support from Nicor Gas helps us create opportunities for children and families to achieve a better quality of life," said Paul A. Logli, CEO/President of United Way of Rock River Valley. "We appreciate their total commitment to our community."

In addition to the corporate check, Nicor Gas annually pledges employee contributions through its United Way workplace campaign. Nicor Gas was also a key partner in developing the recently opened 8th Avenue Strong Neighborhoods House by moving two gas meters to make room for an ADA-compliant ramp.

Nicor Gas representatives Jim Kuchler, regional director, David Pietryla, community relations manager, and Jeremy Thomas, supervisor of field operations, presented the check to Logli during Wednesday's United Way of Rock River Valley board meeting.
