Welsh and West View elementary schools (Rockford Public Schools)

Programs

- Summer Trading Tuesday (multiple dates and times)

Description: This program, set to begin on June 9th, is an expansion of our school year reading programs. Due to construction around our buildings, Welsh & West View schools will partner up and hold our Tuesday program near the playground behind West View School on Huffman Blvd. We will be open for 90 minutes on six Tuesdays this summer. Children and their families will be able to come by school to choose new books and spend a few minutes talking with teachers about their summer reading. Incentives are in place to ensure a successful year. We believe that providing books to our neediest children and encouraging summer reading will help reduce the summer skill loss and help to reduce the achievement gap between children living in poverty and those living in higher income households.
