Position Title: United Way Community School Coordinator

Purpose of position: Facilitates the implementation and management of the development of community school activities, events, programs and services that lead to improved student achievement, stronger families, and healthier neighborhoods.

Core Duties

Supervision: Provide ongoing supervision and leadership; manage daily operations of the community schools partnership including volunteers and community organizations.

Project Management: Plan, implement and evaluate community schools model in a specific elementary school. Work with diverse group of stakeholders.

Community Engagement: Plan and direct efforts to involve youth, families, and community at the school. Introduce efforts to students, school staff, families, and community.

Communication: Prepare internal and external communication including reports, presentations, and business correspondence.

Data Evaluation: Collect, evaluate, and disseminate pertinent metrics to supervisor and advisory board.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Ability to build community partnerships and maintain working relationships.
  • Proven skills in leadership, group facilitation, coordination, marketing, budgeting, data collection and evaluation.
  • Ability to demonstrate cultural sensitivity and work with a diverse groups (student, staff, and community).
  • Ability to adhere to school policies and procedures.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and respond to deadlines while working on multiple tasks.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Exhibits the ability to be a creative thinker and self-starter.
  • Must have a flexible schedule.



Bachelor's degree required in social sciences or education and two years of relevant experience and the ability to meet the essential functions stated above.
